Since my last post, I've received two acceptances. My 7th was for a how-to article, and this morning's acceptance, my 8th of the year, was for a mini-romance. The mini-romance was my first acceptance from this publication.

I completed and submitted my fifth story of the year this morning, a 5,000-word collaboration with Temple for a music-themed crime fiction anthology.

I competed and submitted my fourth story of the year this evening, an 11,700-word bit of crime fiction, which became my 8th acceptance of the year. This is a bit of a cheat because I wrote it for Chop Shop, the serial novella anthology series I edit.

I received my first three acceptances of the year—one yesterday evening and two this morning. All are reprints. Two are crime fiction. The third is either crime fiction or a ghost story, depending on how you read it.

I finished and submitted my thirteenth story of the year this evening. This one's a 5,000-word PI story.

I completed and submitted my twelfth story of the year this morning. This one's a 3,300-word bit of crime fiction for an invitation-only anthology.

Eleven

I finished and submitted my eleventh short story of the year this morning. This one's a 2,500-word bit of crime fiction I began writing on July 5, 2020.

Ten

I finished and submitted my tenth short story of the year. This one—my sixth collaboration with Sandra Murphy—is a 4,200-word bit of crime fiction. Our previous five collaborations all sold on first or second submission, so I have my fingers crossed for this one.

One

I submitted my first new story of the year this evening. It's a 5,100-word bit of crime fiction written in the style of now-defunct confession magazines such as True Story, True Confessions, True Love, and others. I don't know when I started writing the story—maybe as far back as the 1980s—and a few months ago I found the almost-finished ms. on my hard drive when I was looking for something else. I added an ending and tinkered with the rest of it repeatedly until I finally decided to push it out of the nest to see if it could fly.

 I received my 72nd acceptance of the year this morning, this time for a 5,800-word private eye story.

Eight

I was cruising my computer files this evening, looking for a story I'd roughed out a while back that I thought might fit an open call I'd seen. Instead, I found a nearly complete story I'd written in January 2006. With only a couple of minor tweaks and the addition of a title, I just completed my eighth story of the year. This one's a 1,300-word horror story, but I'll have go hunting for a place to submit it.

I finished and submitted my seventh story of the year this evening. This one's a 3,100-word historical private eye story with an unusual (for me) setting.

69-71

I'm a bit behind on posting. I received my 69th acceptance of the year on October 26, my 70th acceptance on October 27, and my 71st this evening. The first is a ghost story reprint and the other two are crime fiction, one accepted by a popular magazine and the other by an open-call anthology.

I've been suite remiss in keeping this updated. Since my last post I've placed two additional original stories and 56 reprints.

I've been remiss in updating my sales. Since my last post, I've received my 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th acceptances of the year, all crime fiction. One was accepted by an anthology and four by mystery magazines, including tonight's acceptance for a collaboration with Sandra Murphy. If I've counted correctly, Sandra and I have sold five collaborations.

I've not been doing a good job of keeping up with this. Since my last post, I've sold a reprint and had three original stories accepted for publication. All are some form of crime fiction.

I received my 14th acceptance of the year this morning, this time for a 7,400-word traditional mystery. And yesterday I received a copy of an anthology published in 2012 that contains reprints of two of my stories.

I received an anthology today, published earlier this year, that contains reprints of six of my short stories. I also received an anthology published in 2014 that contains a reprint of one of my stories.
